I have noticed a few layouts around with this sort of design happening:

one way i have seen this become popular is with instagram/ hipstamatic type of photos:

or of course the photo booth type of shots:

you could even extend this theme to your page design with 3 patterned papers instead of using photos...

i wonder what you can come up with?
